Photos or films that depict the sexual abuse of a child (acts by, on or in front of children) count as child pornography. Huge amounts of data are now circulating on the internet.

The majority of victims of sexual abuse are girls. But boys, often between the ages of six and thirteen, are also affected. Even infants and toddlers are exposed to sexual violence.

The consumers of child and youth pornographic images and videos are predominantly men of all ages. They come from all social classes. Women only appear very occasionally in this area of crime.

There is no standardized image of the investigator. They are predominantly police officers who do this work voluntarily and with a deep inner motivation to help abused children.

The darknet makes the police's work more difficult - also in the area of child pornography. Nevertheless, in the past it has repeatedly been possible to identify offenders and close down platforms.
