Change in the Crime Directorate at Lippe Police: Senior Criminal Investigator Peter Hentschel has taken over as head of the Lippe Criminal Investigation Department from October 2023. He succeeds Senior Superintendent Carsten Seck, who is now taking on a new challenge at Dortmund Police Headquarters. The new Head of Directorate is already familiar with this task. After completing his studies in Münster, Peter Hentschel has been head of the criminal investigation department at the neighboring Höxter district police authority since 2020.

Now, however, it was time for the Paderborn native to move on in his career, which is why he has been working in the beautiful Lippe region for a few weeks now. "I am delighted to have the opportunity to build on my previous experience in the same role here. I have come to know the criminal investigation department as exciting, multi-layered and complex and am now taking over a well-functioning directorate here in Lippe with dedicated and specialized colleagues. I see it as my task to maintain the high quality and motivation and to further develop the directorate as required. I want people to enjoy working here - the rest usually comes naturally," says Peter Hentschel.

After graduating from school and completing his basic military service in the German Armed Forces, the head of the CID joined the NRW police force in 1999 after studying in Bielefeld. He was then transferred to the Wuppertal police force in 2002, where he spent a total of nine years on guard duty and in the riot police squad. He then successfully applied to the State Office for Training, Further Training and Personnel Affairs of the NRW Police and has since worked in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock as a teacher in training in various specialist areas. Peter Hentschel then began his promotion to the higher service in 2016. The mandatory two-year promotion phase took him to various work shadowing stations in the district police authorities in Bielefeld and Paderborn. His focus here was on the Crime Directorate, which proved to be a fortunate coincidence in view of his later assignments.

In his new role, he is now available to around 140 employees of the Lippe Criminal Investigation Department. He is happy to take on this role, as he has a clear opinion on the subject of employee leadership: "I understand good leadership to mean listening, commitment and support for one's own area, without losing sight of the interests of one's own authority and the police force as a whole. In my experience, open interaction and dialog at eye level as well as joint and constructive work on solutions are conducive to achieving goals."

The 43-year-old, who was born in Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt, lives in Paderborn with his wife and two children. In his free time, he likes to go running, swimming or cycling with his family. He also enjoys watching SC Paderborn matches in his home stadium.
